Cotton from conventionally cultivation  presents a big danger for the ecosystem, not only because  of the exertion of chemical remedy for pest control, artificial fertilizers and the harvesting with highly poisonous defoliants, but it is also a big risk for the health of the producers and the ultimate consumers.

Through the production chain the toxities filtrate into the groundwater and through the skin finally directly into the human organism. 

Therefore the label maedchenwald has decided to use exclusively cotton made from controlled biological cultivation(kbA). 

Our cotton suppliers come from Turkey, and guarantee through the GOTS certification  (Global Organic Textile Standards) a gapless observance of the following guidelines: 

• no genetically changed seeds
• abandonment of chemical and synthetic remedy for pest control and artificial fertilizer
• harvest without highly poisonous defoliants (agent orange)
• careful use of water
• no use of poisonous azo consisting dyes, heavy metals and formaldehyde
• no chloride bleaching
